More Than $500 Million Recovered for Clients

Roger R. Carter is the founding and managing partner of the Carter Law Firm in Newport Beach. Mr. Carter decided to become a lawyer early in his childhood having been a firsthand witness to the injustices of race and gender discrimination. His mother came to the country as a young adult and was often subjected to disparate treatment. This helped to mold Mr. Carter’s character and his desire to help those who are treated unfairly based upon their perceived differences. His motivation to help others is deeply rooted in his own personal experiences.

Mr. Carter carried this motivation into his undergraduate education, engaging primarily in course work that emphasized advocacy for the less fortunate and oppressed. He obtained his B.A. in Political Science from Tufts University in 1984, also studying at The London School of Economics and working for British Parliament as a Research Assistant to George Robertson, a front bench Labor Party Member. Mr. Carter’s work included tackling nuclear arms issues, obtaining employment benefits for workers engaged in oil and gas exploration in the North Sea, and investigating issues surrounding the domestic and foreign policy conduct of South Africa under apartheid.

In 1987, Mr. Carter obtained his law degree from William and Mary, the first law school established in the United States. He also attended Exeter University in England, specializing in courses regarding the ongoing evolution and implementation of European Community Law. Mr. Carter also obtained a Master of Laws Degree in International Business and Taxation (LL.M.) in 1988, attending courses at Salzburg University. Thereafter, and prior to commencing his career in the United States, Mr. Carter worked at one of the largest and most reputable law firms in Spain, assisting and negotiating transnational joint ventures between foreign entities.

In 1989, Mr. Carter was admitted to the State Bar of California and the District of Columbia Bar. After becoming an active member of the bar, he obtained extensive experience in business litigation, working for premier defense firms for the first seven years of his practice. Following that, Mr. Carter founded his own firm to represent victimized employees who have suffered discriminationharassment, or other mistreatment in the workplace. His practice centers exclusively on helping his employee clients with labor law issues, helping them to enforce their rights, resolve wage and hour issues, and get what they deserve.

Having practiced for over 30 years, and having worked for both defendants and plaintiffs, Mr. Carter possesses the unique experience, reputation, and ability to successfully represent individuals and multiple plaintiffs. His unique experiences have helped him hone his negotiation and advocacy skills, resulting in his active participation in hundreds of employment-related cases. His actions and results have directly impacted and improved the workplace for hundreds of thousands of employees, and within the last ten years alone, resulted in total recoveries in excess of $500,000,000.

In addition to his work, Mr. Carter also loves spending time with his family, including his two children. He boxes on a regular basis, skis when he can, and enjoys eating well.
